Space played the lead in realising the outstanding on-site eating, meeting and entertainment facilities, working with Charlton House Catering Services to bring the whole scheme to life.
One of the main challenges was fitting everything needed for the plan into a tight area. Space used every inch of space in the small galley-style kitchen to lay down preparation and storage areas for the daily changing menu and freshly cooked chef’s specials. The result is a tidy space with everything in its place and nothing that isn’t needed.
Elegant display and servery counters run across the main restaurant, showcasing the chef’s craft; dark walnut contrasts boldly with pale cream marble fronts, whilst behind there is a sparkling flash of stainless steel to work and serve from.
Four superb walnut panelled tiered displays designed by Space complete the line-up. Dark wood fronts stretching floor to ceiling contrast with pale ceramic floor tiles. Packed with tempting snacks, freshly made sandwiches and bags of sweets and popcorn to munch on during movies, they make for a dramatic visual display.
Tucked away behind the restaurant is a bespoke functions kitchen and bar installed by Space. The dazzling back-lit bar is fitted with a smooth run of utilities and chilled displays, keeping the Champagne permanently on ice. Everything is hidden inside a lustrous marble casing, giving no hint of the activity going on behind when the party is in full swing.
The smallest of working kitchens supplies the bar and keeps the guests well fed and watered. Space squeezed in food preparation and stills areas, dishwashing and storage, and still managed to make everything look bright and ordered. It’s a real workhorse, hosting pre-movie drinks and cocktail parties, lunches and dinners day in, day out.
“Space’s design is cleverly realised, balancing practical requirements with aesthetics,” says Debbie Charleston, Operations Manager, Charlton House Catering Services. “Space not only met everyone’s needs, they also bowled the customers over; the restaurant’s so popular, we’re putting in extra tables so more people can enjoy it.”
