Space Group was entrusted with the task of transforming an empty office space into a modern interior, complete with a boardroom, demo bar, refurbished development and test kitchen, and new office space for staff.

We designed a unique staging area in the form of a mock pub, branded as ‘The Billington Arms,’ to provide clients with an authentic pub environment for taste testing their new menu options. The pub space featured a new timber table, wall-fixed banquette seating, armchairs, upholstered bar stools, and a fully operational bar with a high-level oak bar top and poseur seating. The carefully chosen flooring, fixtures, fittings, decorations, and feature pendant lighting resulted in an exceptional atmosphere within the bar space.

The boardroom and staging area were separated by a crittall wall and door system, allowing the spaces to be connected while also enabling independent use when necessary. The design incorporated elements from the mock pub into the boardroom, such as luxury vinyl flooring (Karndean) and brand-coloured tub chairs, resulting in a cohesive interior scheme. The boardroom’s design exuded a modern corporate look, as specified in the project brief.

To accommodate six development chefs, increase storage capacity, and incorporate a new walk-in freezer, the kitchen design expanded its footprint by utilizing space within the client’s new extension. Energy-efficient induction catering equipment was specified to reduce energy consumption, provide cleaner air, and comply with current regulations under the existing ventilation canopy.

The addition of a new walk-in freezer allowed the development area to operate seamlessly without the need to access the CPU freezer space across the site.

Our designers devised a new internal wall layout to enhance the flow between the renovated areas while working around the existing building structure. This included a new entrance walkway and corridor, which also served as the fire escape route. The new wall layout allowed for a separate office space, complete with a changing room and breakout area.

Despite the project’s challenges and tight schedule, our team’s collaborative efforts led to a successful outcome.
