University of York – Ron Cooke Hub & Sports Village

Following the development and publication of tender documentation by the University, Space Group submitted a comprehensive design proposal that was selected as the preferred solution. The project was subsequently awarded to Space, encompassing refurbishment works across two key campus destinations: the Ron Cooke Hub and the Sports Village.

The project brief called for contemporary, welcoming spaces that would enhance the customer experience with a fresh and modern look, while maintaining consistency with the surrounding colour schemes, finishes and overall aesthetic.

Working closely with the University team, Space Group delivered a complete design and build solution across both locations.

The scope of works included:

• New bespoke serving counters
• Loose and fixed furniture installations
• Back-of-house catering equipment
• Feature lighting installations
• Decorative planters and interior enhancements
• Specialist fabrication and bespoke joinery

The completed project successfully delivered attractive, practical spaces that integrate seamlessly with the wider campus environment while supporting the University’s catering operations for years to come.
